Event Background

We are facing a worrying trend. Our little ones’ attention span and resilience to overcome challenges are rapidly shrinking. At the same time, more and more children are finding it difficult to cope with pressures in school and life - leading to potential mental health-related problems in their later years.
First-of-its-kind East-meets-west programme
This is why we created the School of Mindfulness and Taiji (SoMaT) - a first-of-its-kind East-meets-west programme that combines ancient Chinese wisdom with evidence-backed psychology insights and tools to enhance physical, mental, and emotional well-being with mindfulness as the anchor.

Why mindfulness through Taiji?
Cultivating mindfulness is known to
Enhance focus
Increase self- and other-awareness
Balance emotional response
As a movement-based mindfulness practice, Taiji:
Builds groundedness
Plus more, given its roots in traditional Chinese medicine and philosophy:

Plant seeds & lay a foundation for thriving during your child’s critical brain & motor development stage
Power up their inner ability and confidence to thrive in school and life
This 12-week programme that runs every Saturday 10am to 11.30am from 15 March to 31 May 2025.
Each 1.5 hour session includes a combination of Taiji and interactive, play-based activities linked to positive and mindfulness psychology research and tools.
Knowing that each child is unique and special, we create a safe space for learning, exploring, and development, and apply a personalised and progressive approach to support optimal learning and personal takeaways.
Your child's progress will be measured and monitored. Target outcomes* include improvements in attention/relaxation/mental workload, and positive shifts in positive emotions, self-confidence, and connection with others.
*Results are subject to child commitment to practice regularly outside of class. Neuro EEG measurements and reports are available based on suitability to the child.
